Matilda by Roald Dahl, published on October 1st in 1988, is about a bright-eyed young girl with an unusual affinity for reading. She is a curious and lovely individual with less than affectionate parents who see her as nothing more than an inconvenience and a pest. It was very interesting to get to read the book because previously I had only seen the movie and the stage production of it. I found it interesting that the events of the book, play, and movie had just enough discrepancies to be noticeable, but not enough to alter the plot or change the end result. The book was absolutely wonderful to read, and the original illustrations by Quentin Blake only added to the experience. Matilda Wormwood certainly exemplifies the qualities of being a rebel wonderfully from her courage and compassion by sticking up for herself and her friends, to the unconventional and creative means she employs to do so. This book was a wonderful read, and I'm so glad that I was able to be along for the ride.
